The project

Ansp project (Academic Network at São Paulo) is funded by Fapesp (Foundation for Research Support of São Paulo state) to provide connections between institutions that compose São Paulo academic environment, as described below:

In addition, Ansp project provides access to Internet Commodity and to Internet 2 for these institutions. Its deployment began in 1988 and it was the first Brazilian network to integrate itself to Internet in 1991. 

Ansp settled over the past years partnerships with RNP (The National Network of Education and Research), FIU (Florida International University) and Neti-HCFMUSP (The Core Expertise in Information Technology at Hospital das Clínicas of Medical School of São Paulo University). It also has established many service contracts and provided  resources with Terremark of Brasil, Telefonica, Global Crossing, CTBC Telecom, Eletropaulo Telecom, Foundry Networks and PadTec, among others.

Currently, Ansp is a Fapesp program, focused on projects registrations or research proposals. However, for whomever wants to integrate to Ansp or is already integrated, Fapesp offers a resource mode 

Its office is called Nara (Core Network to Academic Support) and is located in Cerqueira César district, in São Paulo city, within HCFMUSP area. On the other hand, the physical core of Ansp is located in NAP of Brasil, in Tamboré district, Barueri city (SP), and is formed by routers, switches and support servers.
